Training Lab
Five drills for a faster shot. Prop your phone over the goal, or set it down and listen, and shoot the real table.
Watch & Shoot
Watch the defense move. Shoot the holes it gives you.
Pick a shot and a defense, and two men glide on scripted paths like a real opponent working the rods. Turn on Call the look and it names the hole as it opens.
Tom Spear Drill
Ball in position → Ready → Begin → Long
Don’t watch. Listen, and shoot what the tape calls. Tom Spear’s practice cassette, rebuilt: the call comes at a random moment inside the possession clock, so you never know the shot till the last second.
One Look
The defense shows for a blink. Shoot the hole you saw.
A real defense flashes up mid-move and goes dark. Read it in one look, shoot, then the screen shows you the hole that was open.
Off the Move
When a man moves, shoot the hole he opens.
The defense sets with a man on the straight and waits. The instant a man moves, the hole he opens is yours. Turn on fakes and he’ll twitch first. Don’t bite.
Your Defense
Work the rods for 15 seconds. Then shoot against it.
Work the goalie and the 2-bar together, a finger on each, for 15 seconds: the time you get on the 3-bar. Then prop the phone over the goal and shoot against the defense you made. Copy the guy who always stops you.
